Thorne Park Pony Stud is situated in Darling Downs, Western Australia. It is a partnership of Mother and daughters, Helen, Sarah and Eliza Moore and Stacey Nash, our rider and adoptive daughter & sister.

We are a small stud with a few but select mares. We aim to produce show stock of the highest quality using the best and most exclusive bloodlines available with the use of AI. We have been fortunate enough to be able to access some of the best bloodlines the world has to offer.

We pride ourselves on the ability to produce just a few foals each year to the highest calibre focusing on exceptional training and handling. Each foal that is produced has one on one attention from the time it is born. Ponies purchased from our stud are fully prepared to embark on a show and ridden career.

Thorne Park Pony stud was established in 1978 with the purchase of three mares and a stallion. These initial few influenced how the stud would develop over the next 25 years.

The stallion the stud has based most if it breeding on it Kinlieth Pendragon who was purchased from Veronica Manifold of the Kinlieth Stud in Kyneton Victoria. He was out of the outstanding imported mare Cennen Partridge by Rotherwood Commander. Pendragon possessed the most amazing movement, that was to be passed on through generations of his stock. Some of Pendragon progeny include Thorne Parks Pollyanna, Thorne Parks Keepsake (Section B Welsh Performance Mare of Australia), Thorne Parks Jenny Wren (Champion Pony Perth Royal Show), Kirralea Classic(Champion Perth Royal Show), Chardonnay and , Morningside Pennylane (Five times HOTY and Three times Royal Show Champion), Picture Me (Ridden Riding Pony of the year Winner) and Domino (Ridden Riding Pony of the Year Winner) to name a few. Unfortunately for the stud, due to a very nasty kick when he was young, Pendragon became infertile at the age of 17 and had to be gelded.

The foundation mares included Gullawarra Leicia (dam of Pollyanna & Georgina), Quartz Hill Regina (Dam of Jenny Wren), Beaconview Linylou (HOTY Winner) and Balmoral Wintersong (Dam of Keepsake, Windsong, Calamity Jane, Broadway, Dance Man and many more).

The stud was to follow with two more stallions that have made their mark on the stud. The imported Riding Pony Rosevean Galeforce by Bwlch Zephyr was purchased to add some English blood into our broodmare band. He successfully did this before he was sold to Greg and Mike Smith of Queensland. He sired many show ring champions including Thorne Parks Windsong, Marapona March Wind, Wind in the Willows, Morningside Tradewind and Windy Minx.

The other stallion was Llanfairbryn Fred Astaire who was purchased from Anthony and Suellen Deane of Victoria. This beautiful Galloway stallion by Kirreway Quinton out of the stunning Thoroughbred mare Our Piccaninny would fill a niche in Western Australia as not only was he beautifully quiet and he produced this, he was the only section A Riding Pony Stallion measuring 14.2hh at the time. Not only did Bertie have a successful led career winning Champion Stallion at the royal Show and State Riding pony show he also had a very successful ridden career winning the ridden stallion at the Perth Royal Show and numerous other champions. Bertie was our Resident sire for 11 years and producing such foals as Thorne Parks Dance Man, Calamity Jane, Broadway, Ginger Rogers, Riverdance, Morningside Dancing Lady, Cole Porter and Puttin on the Ritz. He was gelded at the age of 11 and embarked on a highly successful ridden career which included being the oldest Newcomer in WA.

The breeding took a backseat when my daughters Sarah, Eliza and Cathy were all riding. We developed a very successful show stable which continued long after my daughters grew too big for the ponies with the help of National Rider Anna Duffy and Stacey Nash.

Some ponies that have been produced that have left a mark on our show stable include Mickey Drippin, Beaconview Lindylou, Morningside Domino, Morningside Tradewind, Thorne Parks Ginger Rogers, Kinlieth Condor, Thorne Parks Calamity Jane, Morningside Pennylane (Five times HOTY and Three times Royal Show Champion – Ridden by Anna Duffy), Morningside Step Ahead (HOTY Winner Ridden by Stacey Nash, VASA Winner), Kinlieth Primadonna, Glyndebourne Morticia and Dainhill Regards.
